Ok so before i came to the academy I use to make archetypes for fun, mostly cause i was bored. Now I'm going to share some of my ideas. I would love to post the cards here from the YCM but i cannot find the right pictures from my cards. If i ever do I will post them.
This week, I'm going to be showing and reviewing my Reflection Archetype.
The Reflection cards are one of my beginning and still favorite creations. The idea behind it came from the idea of mirror REFLECTIONS of everything in life, Especially Emotions. The Reflection cards have a very powerful Swarming capability, making them faster than anything in the real game meta, allowing them to make several Syncros and Xyz off of playing 1 card.
So far, all Reflection monster share a common effect, "Once per turn, When you control a face-up 'Reflection - ________' you may Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. When this card is Special Summoned by it own effect. . ." While it may seem like an obstical to control certian monsters, the support archetype, Mirrors, which consists of Spell and Trap Cards, allows one to put 1 card in the grave while adding the other card to the hand. Once the peices are set however, the deck unleashes its true potential. While all Reflection monster can be Normal and Special Summoned like other monster, their true power lies in their ability to Special Summon themselves, as when they do they get powerful Ignition Effects.
For instance, one of my favorite cards, Reflection - Madness, has a particulary nasty ability. "Once per turn, When you control a face-up "Refection - Sanity," you may Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. When this card is Special Summoned by its own Effect, Discard 1 Random card from your opponents hand." While it may benifite decks like Darkworld and Fabled, it harms just about every other deck, and even though a one time thing is not bad, the archetype constanty summons its monster, generating lots of card advantage.
While the deck can generate massive advantage very quickly, the deck suffers from a loss of attack. No monster in the Archeytpe has over 2300 Atk, Including the Syncros and Xyz. While not a problem when expanding your Extra deck, it can lead to a loss if played with out the correct extra deck. The deck doesn't need the power on its own though as its job is to preform the powerful new Inverse Summoning, ( I will explain Inverse Summoning Later).
Another weakness of the deck is Macro. Since the deck relies so heavily on the Graveyard to make its plays, that a well placed dimensional fissure or D.D. Crow will cripple the deck beyone recovery, giving it a serious flaw. It also has a hard time facing down powerful Anti-Meta cards like Doom Cal., and TKRO, especially the latter.
All in all, the deck is probably one of the most dangerous things i have ever come up with. They are Fast and unleash several devistating effects on the board, while at the same time having to face-down their great enemies. I give them an 8/10. So tell me what you think.
